Hi Phill
We hope God has kept you well and the entire WTW team. We are all okay. The silence doesn't mean that IV-Project work stalled. On the contrary, we have covered some ground, just as Alice had earlier indicated in the last mail. The architect is working on detailed plans now and should be done in a week or so. Hopewell treasury could only afford to pay him Kshs.10, 000/= to start the work, aint near 50% he sought.
The land is secured and we have entered into 'intention to buy' agreement with the owners and they therefore cannot sell it to anyone till end of July. By then, if we still cat raise the whole money for land, we can pay 50% and the rest later as building starts.
Salaries for tour guides/drivers are paid in two ways: you either pay Kshs.1000/= every time the driver goes out with a tour team or you enter a monthly salary package which is approx.Kshs.15,000/=. Guards for such a guest house earn Kshs.6000/= a month. Waiters and waitresses earn Kshs.10, 000/= a month. We are yet to find out how much a guest house manager would take home monthly.
We already sent you detailed costs of a borehole/well. Water treatment will only come in after borehole is drilled and water analysis done. If fluoride level is within allowable limits, then no treatment. If on the higher side, then a defluoridator is a must. Setting the treatment up would cost approx.Kshs.900,000/=.
We wouldn't consider Martin within the IV-Project team. He is attending his university in Western Kenya, hundreds of miles away and would definitely not be effective. We don't know how many representatives from down here you would wish to see in the board managing the village?
We will respond to the other outstanding questions soonest. Be blessed.
Vitalice
